Maidstone United player manager Jay Saunders has managed to keep key members of his squad despite interest from rival clubs.

Striker Shaun Welford has opted to stay with the Stones, despite an offer from Ryman South champions Whitehawk, while midfielder Michael Phillips who has overcome a knee injury which ruled him out for the second half of the season has sign on again.

A third player to commit to the club is Sam Bewick who was recently awarded the runner up in the supporters’ vote for their player of the year.

The club, which is moving back to its town this summer after decades in exile has also added further friendlies to its schedule.

As well as the sellout match against Brighton & Hove Albion, the Stones will host League Two side Dagenham & Redbridge on Tuesday 17th July in a 7.45pm which will be the first time the new floodlights will be used.

League One side Leyton Orient will play in another 7.45pm kick off on Wednesday 8th August.
