Gillingham midfielder Charlie Lee wants three points from tough trip to Northampton.
Gillingham midfielder Charile Lee knows that his side need to be playing at their best if they are to overcome Northampton this weekend.
Gillingham travel to the Sixfields Stadium needing to pick up maximum points, and hoping that the teams above them drop points as they are still four points short of the play-off zone.
Lee who returned to the starting line-up against Swindon last Saturday after injury, is confident that if the team perform they will pick up three points.
“We know we can do it, unfortunately we have to hope the other results go for us. They have got tough games,” said the 25-year-old.
“If we go and do what we are capable of doing we will get three points.
“They haven’t had a great season, they didn’t do very well at the start.
“I have got a few friends there, they have got some real good players, they are better than their position.”
That 3-1 win over Paolo Di Canio’s side at Priestfield has put the squad in a good mood this week ahead of the crucial clash, and it was a good game for Lee whose long through was flicked in by Danny Kedwell for the opening goal.
“The team were buzzing. It was a good result, we played quite well,” he said. “It was good for me because it was my first game back.
“We have had a few this year from long throws. At the start of the season we practised, I don’t really know where it goes, I just stick it in there, and people just attack it - it seems to work.”
