Organisers of the Kent County Show say they are are facing up to losses in excess of £300,000 after rain caused chaos with this year’s event.

The three-day show at the Kent Showground in Detling ran from Friday to Sunday but access to the site became a major issue after heavy rains turned car parks in quagmires.

On Friday, the site was forced to prevent any access to the site by vehicles just three hours after opening, and on Sunday the accessible car parks were full by 10.15am to those who had not pre-booked.

A number of traders were left fuming by problems.

George Jessel, thge show’s chairman, said: “We are facing losses running into six figures. However, we will be back next year.”
