Engineering skills around the town will benefit from a new training scheme set up by Hitachi Trains.
The new three year apprenticeship programme will provide opportunities for school and college leavers.
The high speed trains will start regular services between Ashford and London’s St Pancras station next year.
The trainees will start work in September at the state-of-the-art train maintenance centre near the International station.
Experts say this shows that the town is an increasingly attractive place for employers to invest.
Locate in Kent, the county’s investment promotion agency helped companies to create 1,047 jobs in Ashford between April 2007 and April 2008.
Chief executive Paul Wookey said: “Half our successes in Ashford have been in the ICT sector, with other jobs being created in construction and property, financial services, engineering and printing.
Furthermore, 75 per cent were knowledge-based jobs indicating the town is attracting a high-quality workforce.”
