Printable version Email to a friend Share this story Add your comment Contact us
A gas leak has caused the A28 near Great Chart to be closed in both directions.

It is believed the smell of gas was first noticed by residents at about 3am.

Police say they have not had to evacuate homes in the area but they have had to put other road closures in place.

The roads closed in the area include: the junction with Brookfield Road and Bridge Road and Templar Way.

Southern Gas as are now on the scene repairing the leak but the road closures are expected to be in place for the rest of the morning.

Drivers who would normally use the busy road in rush hour to get to and from Tenterden are being told to find alternative routes.
